Heritage

Many brands sell dates. For us, they're a way of life.

Long before Palm Bites was founded, dates were at the heart of our family, our traditions, and our culture. We grew up with date palm trees in our front yard, where the harvest wasn't just fruit. It was a celebration of family, generosity, and community.

Dates have always marked life's most meaningful moments. We welcome guests with dates and coffee. We celebrate joyous occasions by gifting beautifully decorated chocolate-covered dates. During times of remembrance, we share dates stuffed with walnuts as a symbol of comfort and compassion. Across generations, dates have brought people together around the table and strengthened the bonds between family, friends, and neighbours.

Legacy

For us, dates aren't a product we discovered—they're part of our heritage. They are woven into our memories, our celebrations, our faith, and our daily lives. They are part of who we are.

That deep connection shapes everything we create at Palm Bites. From selecting exceptional fruit to crafting modern gourmet confections, we approach every product with the same care, respect, and appreciation that has been passed down through generations to preserve the legacy of our ancestors.

Because when something is part of your culture, heritage, and legacy, you treat it differently.

Why Heritage Matters

When you understand the significance behind an ingredient, you respect it and approach it differently. That understanding influences every product we create.

Hospitality begins with a date. Across the Arab world, welcoming someone into your home traditionally begins with two things: Arabic coffee and dates. This custom continues today throughout homes, businesses, weddings, celebrations, and religious gatherings. Serving dates says something without words. "You are welcome here".

The passion for dates runs deep throughout the Arab world. For centuries, growers refined their craft with extraordinary care, selecting only fruit worthy of their families and guests. This pursuit of excellence became part of the culture itself—a heritage that lives on today and forms the foundation of Palm Bites.

Few foods are as closely tied to a culture as dates are to the Arab world. From bustling markets to family kitchens, they have remained a familiar presence for generations. They connect people to their roots, their communities, and the landscapes that have cultivated them for centuries.

Dates may be cultivated across the globe today, but their heritage belongs to the Middle East. The traditions, craftsmanship, and cultural significance surrounding the fruit have been passed down for centuries, shaping how it is grown, selected, and enjoyed. Palm Bites is built upon that authentic foundation, bringing generations of heritage to every product we create.

A LIVING TRADITION

The People of the Land

The story of dates isn't just about where they're grown—it's about the people who have cultivated them, harvested them, and built a culture around them for thousands of years. Our connection to dates comes from heritage, not trends, preserving traditions that continue to shape how the fruit is enjoyed today.

Growing Up With Dates

Our roots begin where the world's finest dates have been cultivated for thousands of years. Dates are a versatile fruit, below highlights some of our favourite date items we grew up eating.

While kids in North America started their mornings with cereal, we grew up eating dibs o' rashi—date syrup blended with creamy tahini. Sweet, nutty, and naturally nourishing, it's a timeless breakfast that has been enjoyed across generations.
A spiced date-filled pastry considered Iraq's national cookie. Often flavoured with cardamom and sesame, kleicha is a staple during holidays, weddings, and family gatherings.
For generations, dates have been the natural sweetener in homemade cakes and desserts across the Middle East. Rich, moist, and deeply comforting, date cake is a reminder that simple ingredients often create the most memorable traditions.
Long before energy bites became popular, date balls were a staple in many Arab homes. Made with dates, nuts, and warming spices, they were prepared for family gatherings, celebrations, and as a naturally sweet treat that brought generations together.
